A Gold Coast double as well for Toby Edmonds

Aug 22, 2015

Toby Edmonds Racing capped a terrific day in the metropolitan area with a double on home turf at the Gold Coast.

The stable notched a winning double with Lesley’s Choice and Young Fun up the highway at Doomben while Ra Ra Epic and Superfast Saki combined for the same result at the Gold Coast.

Ra Ra Epic started the day with a strong victory in the Vincent Chartered Accountants 3YO Fillies Maiden (1200m) with jockey Daniel Griffin aboard.

The daughter of Drumbeats trialled well in July before running a solid second on debut but when one better in her latest assignment.

Griffin rode Ra Ra Epic positively out of the gates to share the lead at a decent pace but the three-year-old was unable to cross to the inside rail early in the $16,000 contest.

Ra Ra Epic took the lead soon after straightening before maintaining her effort to the line, breaking her maiden with an emphatic one-length win.

Superfast Saki overcame difficulties in the straight to complete the stable’s double in the Ramsden Lawyers Class 1 Handicap (1200m).

The son of Fastnet Rock notched his maiden win at Murwillumbah in May before scoring again three starts later.

Superfast Saki raced behind the speed to the turn but luck deserted jockey Jackson Morris when he tried to angle the four-year-old into the clear at the 200m.

Morris quickly switched to a back-up plan, driving Superfast Saki through a tight gap on the inside of the leader before he strode to a half-length win, his second in 11 starts.

Congratulations to the owners of both horses on their Gold Coast wins.
