Balmoral Baby flies home at Ipswich
Jul 15, 2015
A powerful was enough to get the talented mare Balmoral Baby home for her first win for the Toby Edmonds stable at Ipswich.
Great stable supporters Segenhoe Thoroughbreds sent Balmoral Baby to Edmonds at the start of her current preparation after a consistent career in NSW.
Balmoral Baby showed her talent for Edmonds with a solid second at the Sunshine Coast before turning in a sound fourth at her last run.
Edmonds engaged talented apprentice Luke Dittman to ride Balmoral Baby in the Sirromet 5 Star Winery Class 3 Handicap (1350m) but the race didn’t go to plan for the odds-on favourite.
Balmoral Baby was slow to move and struggled to muster pace early to be a clear last of the five runners to the home turn.
Dittman eased Balmoral Baby to the outside of the leaders entering the straight but the daughter of Red Ransom began to build momentum before swamping the front-runners in the last 100m to score a decisive win.
Balmoral Baby’s third win 15 starts earned connections another $12,800 in stakes, taking her prizemoney earnings to more than $65,000.
Balmoral Baby is one of two winners from four foals to race out of the former Victorian stakes-placed mare El Pauji.
Congratulations to the team at Segenhoe Thoroughbreds and all involved with Balmoral Baby’s Ipswich win.
