Top Royal Too Good At Home
May 30, 2015
Having only his second start for the Edmonds Racing team, the Segenhoe Stud-raced Top Royal simply outclassed the rest of the field at the Gold Coast track on Saturday, May 30, pulling away for an impressive two length victory in the Tugun Surf Club Handicap.
Slightly disappointing last time out over the 1200m, a freshen up of 21 days and the step up to the 1300m seemed to work wonders for the four-year-old son of Bachelor Duke.
A winner earlier in his career in New Zealand over 1400m, Top Royal was sent across the Tasman and has been consistent without really stepping up.
Showing with his victory on his home track that he has ability, jockey Luke Dittman settled just off the leader and when the time was right rounding the home turn, he sprinted clear, pulling away for an impressive maiden victory for the Edmonds Racing stable.
Having a great day for the Segenhoe Group after the earlier Listed win of Sagaronne and the Listed second place for Glenbawn Dame both at Doomben, the relationship between Edmonds Racing and one of the Hunter Valley’s leading stud farms is continuing to go from strength to strength.
