Blake Shinn quick to compliment smart filly Sagaronne

May 30, 2015

Blake Shinn believes Toby Edmonds’ plan to run improving filly Sagaronne in next week’s JJ Atkins is a good one and is confident she will measure up in the Group 1.

Edmonds declared Sagaronne would run next week “and win again” after she took the Listed Phoenix at Doomben.

“She really wanted to attack the line and she will eat up the mile. She feels like she has a bit of quality.”

Shinn said she looks a good ride for him in the Atkins.

Sagaronne was an $82,500 purchase for Edmonds at last year’s Magic Millions March (QTIS) Sale and her ownership team is headed by the powerful Segenhoe Stud, for whom Edmonds trains many runners.

Both Edmonds and Shinn believe she is going to relish getting to 1600m in seven days.

“She’s a lovely big filly and the best part of her race was the end,” Shinn said.
