Sagaronne showed the benefit of a little more time to develop with her exciting first-up win at the Gold Coast.

Trainer Toby Edmonds, who also bought the filly for $82,500 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale in 2014, Sagaronne a short break after her debut effort at the Gold Coast in January.

Sagaronne was far from disgraced on debut, running midfield behind the subsequent Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Le Chef on soft ground on January 3.

Edmonds brought the filly back into training for the winter carnival, using a barrier trial at the Gold Coast to have the daughter of Real Saga ready for her first-up assignment.

Edmonds booked Chris Whiteley to ride the smart prospect in the GCTC Tradies Day June 27 Plate (1200m) but a wide draw forced the jockey to take the youngster back in the field in the early stages.

Sagaronne was forced to race wide throughout the $16,000 contest but she began to improve rounding the home turn.

The filly produced an impressive turn of foot to reel in the front-runners in the last 100m to score an impressive half-length win.

Sagaronne earned connections $18,900 in prizemoney and QTIS bonuses in her dominant win.

Congratulations to Sagaronne’s owners and all involved with her outstanding success.
