Talented Mare Puts Opposition to Bed
Dec 27, 2014
Another recent acquisition for the Toby Edmonds Stable from loyal supporter Segenhoe Stud, talented Hussonet mare Breakfast In Bed proved when having her first start for the stable a few weeks back with a slashing second at Listed level that she would be very hard to beat next time out.
Starting the clear favourite in the large field at the Gold Coast, the half-length victory gave apprentice jockey Matthew McGueren his third win from his last five rides when contesting the Eric Cowell Memorial Benchmark 85 over the 1400m.
Defeating the Peter Hulbert-trained Endless Shadow, with a further two-and-a-quarter lengths to the third placed Playtime, it looks as if Breakfast In Bed has a very good campaign ahead of her.
Appreciating the wet track, the victory gave the consistent mare her seventh win from 24 starts, with a further seven placed efforts.
Still looking for a black type win, Breakfast In Bed has run some great races at stakes level, placing on two of the three occasions she has risen up in grade, and with some luck in running the Edmonds Racing team will hopefully be able to secure a back type win for the mare.
Congratulations to owners Segenhoe Stud who have had two winners with the Edmonds Racing Stable in two days after the win of Our Boy Nicholas yesterday, click here to read all about it.
