Back to back for Rhaego

Nov 10, 2014

While it may have taken Danehill Dancer four-year-old Rhaego 14 starts to break his maiden, it only took until his 15th start to produce his second career victory, giving the galloper back to back wins.

Having started his career in New South Wales in the stable of Anthony Cummings (who still has part ownership), the talented galloper has now had seven starts for the stable and has finished in the top five on all bar one occasion.

Recording a dead-heat win last time out over the 1400m at the Gold Coast, Rhaego travelled back to the same course and distance on Saturday to contest the Alan Garrett Memorial Handicap.

Starting well in the market, jockey Sairyn Fawke had Rhaego  settled in fourth position and just before the home turn his run started. With 400m to go, he had moved into second and it looked as if he would take the win.

Getting up to defeat Legal Counsel by three-quarters-of-a-length, with a long neck back to Spursyn, we are extremely pleased for the connections of the four-year-old that he has managed to secure back to back wins.
