While the metropolitan action was at Eagle Farm on Saturday we took a small team of four runners up to Rockhampton on June 21 and were rewarded after the long drive with a pair of winners in Siegfried and Dolphus, as well as a good second from Larabee.
Two-year-old Real Saga gelding Larabee was having his second career start and after running fourth first up a few weeks prior at Rockhampton, improved to finish second, beaten three-quarter-of-a-length.
Pictured above a yearling prior to his sale, watch for this two-year-old when he fully matures later into his preparation and even into his three-year-old season.
A few races later our four-year-old Dylan Thomas mare Dolphus (pictured below) stepped up to the 1200m after a pleasing effort first up over an unsuitable 900m. Contesting the Claude Green Memorial (Fillies and Mares) Class Three, jockey Dale Evans had the race favourite travelling sweetly just behind the leading few horses and mounted a challenge in the straight to score by a length, recording her third career victory.
Having been with the stable for her last ten starts (out of 21), the mare has recorded not only the three wins with us, but has also been in the top five on eight of those occasions, including finishing a fourth at black type level.
Two races later, the ever consistent Siegfreid was back in the winner’s stall, having won last time out on the track over 1400m.
Having now won three of his past four starts, the Jet Spur gelding is really coming into his own, and having progress nicely from 1200m win through a 1400m and then today over 1600m, the A J Chigwidden, J L Hiron, R Torossi, S J Gray, G M Lever, M M Clingly, C M Thompson, D M Firth, P G Jones, G J Caisley, A G Warian & Diceridge Pty Ltd (Mgr: Mrs J P Aspinall)-owned runner is really starting to pull it all together and we feel he has a good future.
Congratulations to the connections of all runners today, and we thank you for your support of the Toby Edmodns Racing Stable.
