The Sun Shone Brigtly At The Coast On Sunday
May 12, 2014
After the team saluted at the Gold Coast a day prior with Spurs And Sashes (story here), Edmonds Racing travelled to the Sunshine Coast on Sunday and left with a winning double!
Rarely out of the action, three-year-old Jet Spur gelding Siegfried (pictured left) headed into the third race of the day, off the back of an uncharacteristically poor effort at Eagle Farm three weeks prior.
With four scratching’s in the races, the Damian Browne-ridden gelding faced a field of six others and started the second elect behind the ragging favourite Lifeline Express who was ridden by the visiting Nash Rawiller.
With only a few behind him in the run, and carrying the top weight of 59kg, it was an classy effort by the A J Chigwidden, J L Hiron, R Torossi, S J Gray, G M Lever, M M Clingly, C M Thompson, D M Firth, P G Jones, G J Caisley, A G Warian & Diceridge Pty Ltd (Mgr: Mrs J P Aspinall)-owned galloper to score by a length, recording his second career victory – with what looks like many more to come!
Two races later, the Segenhoe Stud-owned Tulla Touch (pictured below) was looking to continue the fine form of the Toby Edmonds-trained runners for the Stud, by contesting the Compass Institute Inc Class 3 Plate over 1000m.
Previously trained in New South Wales, the three-year-old Exceed And Excel filly was having her third start for the stable after having two satisfactory efforts, including a second placed effort three weeks back at the same track and distance.
Starting a red hot favourite in the seven horse field, the filly went forward for jockey Jim Byrne and travelled in second position before winning the races from the Andrew Williamson-trained Fallforme by a quarter of a length, with a further two –and-a-half lengths to the third horse That’s Jerry.
With three winners in the past two days, Toby Edmonds Racing would like to congratulate not only the winning connections of the horses, but all who support us.
