Westbrook brings up second victory
Mar 24, 2014
Heading to Grafton on Monday, four-year-old Fast’n’Famous gelding Westbrook celebrated his second career victory for the Edmonds Stable.
Contesting the NBN Television Benchmark 64 over 2200m, the Timothy Bell ridden gelding settled not too far from the leaders and at the 400m took himself forward into a challenging position.
Taking the race by a half-head margin from Mullet Man, there was a further two-and-a-half lengths to the third placed Butane.
Having had 15 starts in total, but only nine with the Edmonds stable, the improving stayer has never finished further back than fourth since heading to the stable after starting his career in New Zealand.
Out of the Grand Lodge mare Mango Tree, this gelding comes from a very exciting pedigree that includes Group One winners Reward For Effort and Overreach.
Congratulations must go to the successful owners; K J Gray, C M Casey, Mrs B A Gray, J R Ryan, P P Alafaci, Ms Y Nakagome, Ms D J Rochfort & N G McBurney, who look to have a promising horse on their hands.
