Linville lets loose on the coast

Nov 03, 2013

After an out of character performance off the back of three consecutive third placed efforts, Private Agenda  four-year-old Linville headed to his home track of the Gold Coast on Saturday and contested the Glenzeil Constructions Handicap over 1400m.

Ridden by Matthew Palmer, Linville settled close enough to last in the 11 horse field, but produced an excellent turn-of-foot when it counted, coming home at a rate of knots to record his second career victory, defeating Speedy Graphito by a short half head margin.

Raced by Mrs D M Edmonds, G C Diamond & G J Diamond, Linville is one of 34 individual winners for his well-bred sire Private Agenda, an Octagonal half-brother to Group Three winner Kaphero and the Listed winner Princesa, both out of the Group One winner Kapchat.

The only foal to race out of the Anabaa mare Avec Trois, Linville is closely related to Exceed And Excel’s Melbourne-based speedster Canali, the winner of seven races.

Having finished in the top four on 11 occasions from his 16 career starts, the Toby Edmonds-trained four-year-old has a win over 1400m and 1600m and has also finished a very good third over 1700m, suggesting that he could now step up again after Saturday’s victory and appreciate a little further.
