Recent success for Edmonds yard
May 18, 2013
As the carnival has started to hot up over the last few weeks of May, Gold Coast-based Toby Edmonds has been enjoying some good winners which should set him up nicely for the coming weeks of the Brisbane Winter Carnival.
Having had 17 runners to date over the past three weeks, 10 of them have finished in the money, highlighting the consistency of the stable.
Three-year-old Ferocity gelding Shtarker has been in very good form since resuming from spell, winning by a length-and-a-quarter first up at the Sunshine Coast on May 5, before finishing a narrow second over 1100m at the Gold Coast last Saturday, May 18.
Still only lightly raced, the G M Lever M M Clingly A W Maher Mrs P Clingly A Chigwidden J L Hiron Ms R Graham D R Lever S Gray & Diceridge Pty Ltd (Mgr: Mrs J P Aspinall)-owned galloper has had nine career starts to date for two wins and a further two placed efforts.
Another of the team to perform really well is three-year-old Hidden Dragon gelding Alpine Dragon. Resuming from a lengthy break, having not started since mid-December, the Edmonds stable took the promising Alpine Dragon to the Gold Coast to contest a 900m maiden.
Having his first start for the Toby Edmonds stable after winning a barrier trial convincingly, the gelding backed it up on race day, taking the race by a narrow margin, indicating that as he steps up a little further in trip from the 900m he will improve considerably.
Congratulations to his owners N G Sklenars & Mrs K G Sklenars who have seen their gelding record three top three finishes from five starts to date.
Other stable runners who have been performing well include Eight Carat Girl, Big Chance and She’s Amazing.
As the Toby Edmonds stable head into the major races throughout the Brisbane Winter Carnival, two-year-old Zizou gelding Our Zidane holds a nomination to the Group One Patinack Farm J.J. Atkins over 1600m, while three-year-old Dylan Thomas filly Dolphus has been nominated for both the Group One Queensland Oaks and the Group One Queensland Derby.
