Edmonds pulls the genie out of the bottle

Apr 03, 2013

Trainer Toby Edmonds has found the right race for recent stable acquisition I'm A Genee at Lismore on Wednesday.

I'm A Genee will be having her first run for Edmonds when she lines up in the R.M. Williams Maiden Handicap (1100m).

The three-year-old daughter of King Cugat was formerly trained by David Vandyke and has finished second at Queanbeyan in both runs to date including a half-length second over 1460 metres on March 2.

The filly raced on the speed and weakened late indicating the shorter journey will be in her favour on Wednesday.

With a slow track likely for Lismore on Wednesday it is worth noting that I'm A Genee's three best trial performances in Sydney were on slow tracks.

I'm A Genee will wear blinkers for the first time and Edmonds is expecting the filly to run well.

"I'm A Genee has only been with us for three to four weeks and has been kept fresh for the 1100 metres.” Edmonds said.

"She seems to be going pretty good at home.

"The softish track at Murwillumbah should suit I'm A Genee and I expect her to run well.”
