War Ends delivers knockout blow at Doomben

Mar 24, 2013

Rejuvenated six-year-old Redoute’s Choice gelding War Ends returned to Doomben on Saturday after a month away from the races.

Having won a barrier trial a week and a half earlier, all the signs were good that the Toby Edmonds-trained runner would put in a solid performance.

Settling handy in the run, jockey Timothy Bell allowed the gelding to use his speed to get into a good position, which allowed him to be within striking distance when things mattered.

Winning the Airen Youhanna Handicap over 1350m by a half-length margin, it was the seventh win for the galloper who took his career earnings past the $300,000 mark with the victory.

Having been with the Edmonds Stable for 13 runs now, War Ends has been in the top three of eight occasions.

Congratulations to the owners of War Ends on the victory; G J Holden J P Wood, F W Howes, G H Denniston G J Diamond S J Parker Dr C Daly & G Atkinson.
