Week In Review
Apr 22, 2012
We had a relatively quiet week this week, with only the 2 runners over the weekend, they were, Rocksan and Rocking Easy.
Rocking Easy was on the back up from last week, we thought he would be highly competitive and if he had the right run in the race, would nearly be the winner. Kirk was positive on beginning, but soon after Rocking Easy began to pull, he didn't settle for quite some time, although he was in contention until late in the race, he was beaten into third, it was likely a factor that he pulled too hard early and that cost him in the final stages of the race.
Rocksan was running in the Princess Stakes for 3yo Fillies, she has been doing absolutely superb around the yard, and we were thinking she would run accordingly, even though the extreme outside gate was clearly a concern. Eddie Wilkinson had her on the fence at the tail of the field. She was travelling sweetly during the run, and on approaching the bend, was still tucked away in the field, all she needed was some clear running. The subsequent winner had a huge lead on Rocksan in a slowly run race, but her last 600m sectional would have been nothing short of sensational, to our eyes it was the run of the race and very unlucky not to win after conceding 8+ lengths at the top of the running, she ran 2nd and is now on target for better things hopefully over a longer distance, It is fantastic to see the owners of Rocksan having such a great time racing the filly, and I am really enjoying training her for a great bunch of people. She will next run in the Gold Coast Bracelet on May 5th.
