Week in Review
Apr 01, 2012
We had a relatively light week this week, with only the 2 runners at Eagle Farm yesterday, Chart and Vaarwel.
Chart was second up yesterday over 1500m, ridden by Paul Hammersley. He jumped well and we intended to be positive, he settled a bit better than midfield, however was 3 wide with no cover unfortunately throughout the trip, he hooked out at the top of the straight and was hitting the line nicely, but was maybe a run short, as he came back to scale he had a big blow, and will derive a lot of benefit from that run, he will be competitive in the coming weeks I am sure.
Vaarwel was second up also after a frustrating period of time with the huge amount of wet weather we have had of late. Ridden by Glen Colless, he jumped from barrier 8 and came bounding out of the gates, crossing to the fence and leading. He travelled quite keenly coming towards the turn, and Glen nursed him along well into the straight, before letting him down and extending his lead, he started to get tired late, but the result was never in doubt. It was a fantastic effort after his first up win 42 days ago, he is 2 for 2 this preparation, and hopefully we can continue to build on his record with us and take him through his grades. It was terrific to get my first winner back in town since resuming training for a great bunch of people.
Congratulations to Shane Cusick, Donna Edmonds, Trent Edmonds, Mark Halle, Jeffrey O'Sullivan, George Kouvidis, David Love, Tim O'Sullivan, George Patounas, Wayne Paxton, Dale Streten
