Weekend Wrap

Feb 12, 2012

This weekend we had two runners at Eagle Farm.

Race 4 saw Achievements backing up from last week,we took some gear off him this week as he was stepping out to the 1500m for the first time with us, he was positioned well early by Chris, but upon straightening he was under pressure and finished sixth beaten by 4.5 lengths, he'll now head to the spelling paddock for some well deserved rest, hes done a good job this prep without winning. We will bring him back next time and be looking to immediately get his first win with Edmonds Racing.

Race 6 at Eagle Farm and this time it was one of Queenslands most exciting sprinters in Essington having his first outing for Edmonds Racing. Ridden by Munce, He was sent out $2.60 favourite by the punters.

Unfortunately all hopes were dashed at the start, as he stood in the gates and missed the kick by near enough to 8 lengths, to be beaten by just a touch over 4 lengths was a huge effort and for mine under the 59kgs was the run of the race, in between now and Essington's next outing he will do some barrier work, to get his mind back on the job and make sure what happened yesterday isnt a regular occurence. He is a very well performed horse who I am thrilled to be training as i think he can pick up some nice races in future outings.
