Keane drives Chart to hard fought win

APPRENTICE Patrick Keane dealt most punters a knockout blow when he landed the final two winners at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
The former Victorian 19-year-old has been in Queensland since he transferred to Gold Coast trainer Kelly Doughty last November and has ridden 33 winners in that time.
He teamed with the Doughty stable today to win the final event, the On Track Thoroughbreds Class 2 Hcp (1200m) on Unrefusable ($13) (pictured) after earlier scoring on the Toby Edmonds-trained Chart ($13) in the International Professional Services Class 3 Hcp (1400m).
Chart, having his second start for Edmonds, was always prominent in the run and just got the better of frontrunner Incitement ($12) to score by a short half-head.
Punters had rallied for Mount Kozciuszko ($2.90 fav) and Bellespirit ($3.30) but neither featured in the finish.
’Chart, by Viscount out of the Group-placed Danehill mare Clothilde, is an ex-Darley galloper Edmonds purchased for $30,000 at the Magic Millions National Racehorse sale in June.
