Three Red Roses shows she is effective on all ground
Sat, 11th June 2011
IN-FORM grey filly Three Red Roses proved she was more than just a wet-tracker when she completed back-to-back victories at the Gold Coast this afternoon.
The Toby Edmonds-trained Three Red Roses bolted in at her previous Gold Coast start on May 25, striding home in very heavy conditions to score by 4-3/4 lengths. Forty minutes later that meeting was abandoned.
It was a different story today with the posting of a good (3) track rating, but it made no difference to Three Red Roses in the Hawking Electrical/Cabac Class 2 Hcp (1800m).
With the scratching of likely favourite From London who gained a start in the Queensland Derby at Eagle Farm, Three Red Roses was sent out a warm fancy at $1.90 after firming from $2.10.
Always travelling in the first three for 2kg-claiming apprentice Patrick Keane, Three Red Roses drew clear to score by 1-1/2 lengths from Billum ($9) with Victoria Cristal ($8) a long neck away third.
By Al Samer out of the Zabeel mare Zabeel True, Three Red Roses has now won two of her seven starts and been placed on another three occasions.
